Prerequisites:  A grade of C or higher in Math 0086, Calculus II, or transfer credit for a course equivalent to Math 0086.  Please note that the students who do not meet the prerequisites may be denrolled for Math 0127.

 

Text: James Stewart, Multivariable Calculus Fourth Edition, Brooks/Cole Publishing Company, 1999.

Note that if you have completed Math C085-0086 during the last year may have Stewart’s Calculus book(4th edition).  You can use this book, but be careful because the chapter numbers are shifted.

 

Objective:  In Math 0127 you will learn concepts and techniques of vector and multivariable calculus.

Chapter 13: Vector and the Geometry of Space

Sections 13.1-13.5 and 13.7

Chapter 14: Vector Functions

All sections

Chapter 15: Partial Derivatives

All sections

Chapter 16: Multiple Integrals

Sections 16.1-16.4, 16.7 and 16.8

Chapter 17: Vector Calculus

Sections 17.1-17.4 and as much material from sections 17.5-17.9 as time allows

 

Grading Policy:

20% Homework assignments, there will be 5 homework assignments.

40% Quizzes, there will be 4 quizzes given at the end of each chapter.

40% Final Exam.( there will be a departmental final exam which will be assigned later.)

 

Extra Tutoring: It is available at MSRC, 18 Curtis Hall, on the Main Campus and in room 201, Bright Hall on the Ambler campus.  Please take advantage of it.
