CNN senior political analyst Jeff Greeenfield stated in his book on the 2000 presidential election, Oh, Waiter! One Order of Crow, that "the single wisest word about Florida was delivered not by a pundit but by mathematician John Allen Paulos, who wrote, `Whatever happens, the margin of error is greater than the margin of victory or defeat.'" After the 2004 election, my OpEd on the exit poll discrepancies also received a lot of attention (although not as much as the importance of the issue warranted).
