TESTS

The tests are scheduled for the following dates: September 12, October 10, November 14, and November 30.   Any changes to this schedule will be announced in class and on this page at least one week beforehand.

No makeup tests will be given. If you cannot be in class for a test, you must let me know by the day of the test, and you must also provide some sort of written proof to verify your excuse (for example: a doctor's note, the car mechanic's bill, etc.). If necessary, the final exam will be weighted to make up for any missed tests.

HOMEWORK
Homework will be assigned for each section of the text -- see "Homework Assignments,"  as well as the guidelines for homework submission at the bottom of the "Student Guidelines" page.  Homework will be collected at the beginning of the recitation period each Tuesday.  Late homework will be accepted, but points will be deducted.  Each homework assignment will be worth approximately 0.5% of your semester grade.

It is very important that you follow the guidelines for homework submission -- otherwise, your homework may not be accepted (and will need to be rewritten and resubmitted, with points deducted for being late).

QUIZZES
Each week there will be a quiz on the material covered in that week's homework assignments.  Quizzes will be given at the end of each recitiation period.  (Exception: on test dates, there will be no quiz.)  Each quiz will be worth approximately 1% of your semester grade.

No makeup quizzes will be given.  If you cannot be in class for a quiz, then let me know by the day of the quiz and provide some written verification of your excuse.

ATTENDANCE
Attendance will not be factored into your grade. Of course, you are expected to attend all lectures and recitations. (You are paying for them, after all!)

If you must miss a class, let me know beforehand if possible, and be sure to find out what you missed that day.  Remember: whether or not you are present, it's your responsibility to be aware of everything that happens in class -- material covered, changes to homework or syllabus, other announcements of any sort, etc.
